CPD Hours: 1.5 |

Jumpstart is a CPA Alberta's Member Engagement Tour - an interactive, networking, and professional development event where Alberta CPAs can connect, share insights, and strengthen their professional community.

This September and October, we will be diving into the topic of investing in evergreen capabilities for long-term success in the accounting profession. As technology and workplace demands continue to evolve, this session will explore the skills that remain valuable regardless of changing tools and trends. Participants will gain practical insights to help them stay adaptable, relevant, and future-ready throughout their careers.

Each attendee must register using their own CPA Alberta account so that attendance can be verified, and CPD credits can be tracked. Our system only captures the purchaser's information.

Summary

    Overview:

Gain practical insights into industry disruptions, evolving workplace dynamics, and the evergreen skills that set professionals apart so you can create lasting value and build career resilience.

Investing in evergreen capabilities is more relevant than ever as the accounting profession navigates rapid technological change, evolving regulations, and increasing workplace complexity. In this insightful session, participants will gain a practical understanding of how structural disruption is reshaping the profession and why investing in durable, transferable capabilities is essential for long-term success. Whether you are an emerging professional or an experienced leader, you’ll walk away with actionable strategies to remain relevant and adaptable in a constantly changing environment.

We’ll explore the key forces transforming accounting, including automation, artificial intelligence, data analytics, sustainability reporting, cybersecurity, and expanding regulatory requirements. Participants will learn why many technical skills have a limited lifespan and how the growing demand for professional judgment, critical thinking, communication, systems thinking, and learning agility is redefining what it means to be an effective accounting professional.

Most importantly, participants will discover how to future-proof their careers by focusing on the skills that enable them to interpret, adapt, and lead through change. Rather than simply keeping pace with new tools and technologies, they’ll learn how to develop the enduring capabilities that will help them thrive in the evolving landscape of accounting and finance.

This session may qualify for up to 1.5 Continuous Professional Development hours.

CPA Alberta does not pre-determine how much CPD is gained at an activity, nor does the organization pre-determine what qualifies as CPD for each individual CPA.
