    Overview:

    This course is designed to get you up and running with the Data Model that is built into Excel since version 2013. It is designed to familiarize you with the concepts around using Power Pivot, multiple data set relationships, and special features that are enabled in Pivot Tables when using Power Pivot and the Data Model.

    Special Instructions:

    This is a hands-on course and to be able to follow along, you will need to bring your laptop computer with a working copy of Microsoft Office 2013 or later WITH POWER PIVOT ADD IN installed if wishing to work hands-on. Microsoft Office Starter Edition will not be adequate. Office 365 will be used in the demonstration of techniques of this workshop.   

    IMPORTANT: You must have working proficiency in Pivot Tables before attending this webinar.

     

     

    Course Content:

    In this course, you will gain knowledge about the following topics:

    • Revisiting a key feature – Format as Table – the dynamic dataset
    • Take a look at the Power Pivot Add-in and how it is enabled in Excel
    • Understanding the concept of related data and the Data Model
    • Creating Data Relationships from existing datasets and working with the Data Model
    • Creating a Pivot Table from the Data Model using multiple Data Tables
    • Examining some Key features when working with Power Pivot – Distinct Count and Calendar Tables

    Upon completing this course, you should be able to:

    • Understand how Dynamic Tables are used for creating a Data Model
    • Recognize the concept of a Data Model, and what it entails
    • Enable and use the Power Pivot Add-in to create Data relationships, manipulate a Data Model, and create Pivot Tables using this Data Model
