    Overview:

    The course kicks off with a concise Excel warm-up focusing on efficient navigation and formula construction techniques.

    You are then guided through the process of building a simple three-statement model, laying the foundation for a solid understanding of a typical model structure. Next, you will learn to build a comprehensive model, based on a real-life case company. The remainder of the day is dedicated to hands-on application as you construct and forecast the detailed model.

    The IFRS version of the model employed in the course incorporates a partial leases schedule for the modeling of leases.

     

     

    Course Content:

    In this course, you will gain knowledge about the following topics:

    • Excel skills for financial modeling: navigation, selecting cells, formula construction, copying formulas, and productivity enhancing keyboard shortcuts
    • Structure of an integrated three statement forecast model
    • Constructing the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement
    • Supporting schedules: working capital; depreciation; amortization; equity; debt and interest with cash sweep
    • Simple equity schedule
    • Incorporating interest income and expense
    • Understanding and controlling circular references
    • Understanding the basic accounting parity check formula in the projected balance sheet (A = L+E)
    • Sensitivity analysis including Data Tables
    • Introduction to discounted cash flow analysis
    • Partial leases schedule: IFRS model only
