Excel: Working with Financial Functions - NPV, IRR, XNPV, XIRR, PMT, IPMT, PPMT
Overview:
This course is designed to give participants insights into using some of the Financial functions in Excel for various analytical tasks like Capital Budgeting, Loan Payments, Annualized growth rates etc.
Special Instructions:
This is a hands-on workshop and to be able to follow along, you will need to use your laptop computer with a working copy of Microsoft Excel. Microsoft Excel for PC, Version 2013 OR Version 2016/Office 365 will be used in the demonstration of techniques of this workshop. You may use older versions with some loss of functionality. Starter Edition will NOT be adequate for this workshop.
Course Content:
In this course, you will gain knowledge about the following topics:
- Introduction to financial functions – NPV, IRR, PMT, IPMT, PPMT
- Setting up the spreadsheet for a capital budgeting example
- Setting up the spreadsheet for loan repayment calculations
- Understanding PMT, IPMT and PPMT in calculating loan repayments
- Understanding XIRR and its use in capital budgeting and in determining rate of return of an investment
- Using the Goal Seek with financial functions
