Audits – Update

Overview:
Auditors require continual knowledge of changing standards and practice issues. This course will focus on recent modifications to the CPA Canada Assurance Handbook.
This will include:
- Recently approved standards that have been incorporated in the Assurance Handbook
- Proposed standards that will be imminently approved
- Current Exposure Drafts and ongoing projects at the Canada Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AASB), with consideration of international projects
- Recent findings stemming from practice inspections, including recommendations on how to address these issues
Course Content:
In this course, you will gain knowledge about the following topics:
- Introduction and overview of recently revised standards that apply to audits
- Exposure drafts and other projects in process for audits
- Practice matters, including highlights from national practice inspection findings and practice advisory comments for auditors
Learning Objectives:
Upon completing this course, you should be able to:
- Describe how the revisions to Canadian Auditing Standards will impact their engagement
- Anticipate pending changes to audit standards and understand how the changes may impact audit engagements
- Describe the recent practice inspection findings and how auditors can address these in their upcoming engagements
- Describe and locate tools to assist with audits

This course will particularly appeal to practitioners serving small and medium-sized private or not-for-profit organizations, although it will advance the knowledge of all accounting professionals performing audits.
